What is a sales order?
A sales order turns a customer's request into a confirmed order. It sets out exactly what you will deliver, when and at what price, so there are no surprises when the goods arrive or the invoice follows. For wholesalers, manufacturers and online sellers it is the starting point for picking, packing and billing.
What to include
- Your details, the customer's and the ship-to address.
- The customer's PO number, if they sent one.
- Items with SKU, quantity and unit price, plus tax, shipping and the order total.
- Expected delivery date, shipping method and payment terms.
- Terms for changes, cancellations and returns.
From order to invoice
A customer sends a purchase order. You confirm it with a sales order. You ship with a packing slip and bill with an invoice. OZO carries the details through each step.
A sales order often follows an accepted price quote.
